Aesthetic design flaw

Review Date: July 24, 2010
Reviewer: Harried Mom,
I have had no problems with this crib. I like how it is sturdy and well built. One issue that recently came up, however, was the design of the front part. See the gap between the top of the front (the bar) and the slats? It's just an aesthetic feature. Well, this became a problem for us when my son was around 20 mos (about 2 1/2 feet tall). He realized he can stick his foot in between and use that to hoist himself up and over the front. He literally climbed out of his crib! Twice!!! So while this design looks innocuous enough, it's actually a flaw. Had there been no space there, he would've hard a harder time raising his leg in order to put his foot up the top bar.
The price was right!!

We are expecting twins and recently purchased two of these cribs. If you are looking for high quality, this crib is not for you. However, for the price, it is well worth it. The crib is very sturdy and decent looking as well.
Lovin' it!!!

I love this bed...it came earlier than expected and it was easy assembly!! This crib belongs in a rich person's house; but it's in mine!! It's definitely a great buy!
Awesome!

I got the crib in 4 days. The crib arrived in perfect condition. I was asked by the shipper to help lift the box out of the shipping vehicle. The box weighs around 100 lbs and requires a two person lift. Assembly went easily. You must have patience and the ability to read the assembly instructions. Some portions of the assembly will require 2 people. Once assembled the crib looks great. Its a lot BIGGER then first exspected - make sure you assemble it in the room you plan on using it in cause its heavy and wide. For the most part this was one of the best purchases I have ever had on Amazon. Good Luck!
THIS COMPANY "STORKCRAFT" THAT MAKES THE CRIB SUCKS

The crib has a nice look & is very strong.
BUT this company Storkcraft SUCKS. They boxed this thing up
with damaged wood all scraped up on certain sections.
THIS WAS NOT DONE BY UPS. IT WAS BOXED THIS WAY BY STORKCRAFT.
The box arrived perfectly in tact, no cuts or dents in the box.
I ordered this when my wife was 3 months pregnant but I didn't open the box and assemble the crib until 2 weeks before the baby arrived. The company told me it was too late to exchange the crib.

I was happen with the item overall. However, it arrived with a few pieces severely scratched. I had to call Storkcraft myself to have replacement parts sent. I am happy with the finished product, but was not offered any consolation or any price concession for the inconvenience and all of the extra labor on my part. The customer service could have been better.
Very dissatisfied

My mom ordered this item and it arrived earlier than they had estimated which was nice, however, as we were putting it together we noticed several things:

1. they did a horrible job with the staining. it is so bad that we are going to have to re-stain it. it looks like it is several years old and wearing off.
2. there are several nicks and dings in different locations.
3. they did a terrible job with the pre-drilled holes that while we were trying to screw something in it would take us at least 10 minutes for one screw.

If it wasn't such a hassle to return it I would. With all that said I would highly recommend NOT buying this. The manufacturer obviously doesn't care about the product that they are producing.
EXTREMELY, EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH OUR PURCHASE :)

ORDER FROM BURLINGTON COAT FACTORY - BABY DEPOT- THEY HAVE FREE SHIPPING!!!!! My husband and I ordered this crib, the changing table with hutch, and the 5 drawer dresser in cherry. They said it could take 90 days, so we ordered it months in advanced. It came in about 60 days. When we got it home, all the boxes were in good shape and packed really good, so there were no broken or messed up pieces. We had no problem at all putting the furniture together. (The directions were not that great, but it is not hard to figure it out). The furniture is great quality and looks like we paid a lot of money for it. The crib is beautiful and is very very sturdy. All the pieces go perfect with each other. I would definitley recommend these pieces to anybody and I would order from this company again. I don't know why so many people have negative comments, but I would ignore them, and buy these products, if it is want you really want for your baby!!!!
Love the crib and so does my daughter!

My husband and I purchased this crib last year before my daughter was born. We spend months looking for a crib and finally decided to purchase this one. We got it off of Wal-mart for they had the most reasonable shipping prices and had it in stock. We got the crib about a week and a half later delivered right to our front door and the box looked like it had been through a war! I was so upset for I was due to have my daughter very soon at the time and did not know how long it would take to fix this problem. The assembly wasn't too bad and there were a few pieces that weren't in good shape so I called storkcraft and they immedialty send me out the replacement pieces and even told me to keep the ones that were damaged (they were just scuffed so I have a back up if anything ever happens to the others). This crib is well made, very sturdy, very classy looking (everyone loves it the minute they see it!) and my daughter won't sleep in anything else. I would say that this crib was worth every penny spent plus more for you can't put a price on something that makes you feel safe with your children.
Could be a five star

We also purchased this crib from Wal-mart. It came quickly but was very badly damaged. You would think they would package it a little better since I am obviously not the only one to have this problems. The leg looks like it was beaten with a hammer and the foot board was chipped. If we were picky the rail should probabaly be replaced to. The corner of the box was smashed in and one end of the box was open. I have sent an e-mail for the replacement parts but haven't received any reply in the last 2 days. So, I am sure I am looking at another month before I can get the parts and put it together asuming that the parts arrive in better shape that the previous. If you need this crib in a hurry definatly go with a different brand. It does look pretty and the wood feels very durable. I haven't tried to put it together yet since I don't have the other pieces but it looks fairly simple. I would probably rate this as a 5 star but having to deal with damaged pieces when this appears to be an ongoing problems only deserves a 3. This is frustrating, I just want to put my crib together. Good luck.
Nice Crib... if you can get one

If you are seriously considering the purchase of this crib, please be aware that the "estimated ship time" is not anywhere close to 5 to 7 days. I was excited to find that this crib had been purchased for my daughter as a gift from relatives. We were informed, several weeks later, that the crib was on backorder and wouldnt be available until after the baby's due date. Resigned to the fact that she probably wouldnt use it for a few weeks anyway, we let the order stand. 2 Days after the promised ship date we were informed that the crib was completely unavailable, at least from BabiesRUS.com. I went with my original plan and just ordered the IDENTICAL CRIB from walmart.com for $40 less! It arrived within a week too. I did not have any of the quality problems that other reviewers had, thank goodness. All the pieces arrived in good condition. SO, NICE CRIB... but watch where you buy it from if you ever want to actually receive it.
Poor service...........

This seems to be a very nice crib. I say seems because we are yet to receive this item undamaged. Our third and final attempt should arrive in 3-4 weeks, hopefully, after begging and pleading with amazon customer service to better package their product. To be quite honest, these people will stop at nothing to please you on the phone. I have called about 20 times over the course of 2 months, and have been lied to on every occasion. The last thing they told me was that this issue is a first for them, but after reading over some of the other reviews, it seems to be rather frequent. So now I'm writing this review so that others will be better prepared, and aware of the problems with amazon.

This crib is sturdy and pretty from a distance. For the money, it is ok. However, the finish is not the best - they missed a few spots while staining and the varnish is a bit hit and miss. Plus, it arrived a little beat up. It either needs to be packed better, or they need a new shipper that doesn't handle it so harshly.
Not pleased with quality

After using a specialty store to buy our firstborn's crib, we thought we'd save the grandparents some money this time around. I actually ordered this exact crib from WalMart. When it finally arrived, there were drips in the varnish as well as inconsistencies in the color on several pieces. Several pieces were wrapped while they were seemingly still wet and so the packaging stuck to them. I'm still working on cleaning it up and will have to order a replacement part for the piece with drippings. We'll go back to the specialty store for our third, that's for sure. You get what you pay for and a crib isn't a place to try to save money.
Horrible ship time (still havent received item after 2 months

Reviewer: Dean R. Cleveland,
I would like to review this crib but we still haven't received it yet. We ordered this on June 18th, the approximate shipping time was 1 to 2 weeks. It is now August 23 and it still hasn't shipped. If you are looking to buy this crib, make sure you order it at least 4 months ahead of time. So don't believe the shipping times.
